Holidays in the Polish Baltic
For Poles, the southern coast of the Baltic Sea is their “Far North”. But the country has no other sea, and today the Baltic coast of Poland is actually more than 500 km of the resort area …
Holidays in the Polish Baltic
Most of the Poles themselves rest in the Polish Baltic (in Pomorie, as they say here). But in the crowded Polish-speaking crowd of tourists, flooding the Polish coastal cities in the summer, one can often hear both German and Dutch speech.
At first glance, this seems strange – the Dutch and Germans have their own resorts in the same climatic zone, and the latter have them on the same Baltic coast. However, economical Europeans have their own calculation: in Pomorie, quite acceptable, by European standards, travel services – accommodation, meals, excursions – are cheaper than in their countries.

There are few of our compatriots in this multilingual flow of tourists. There are tourists from Ukraine, Belarus, neighboring Poland, and from Russia, residents of the neighboring Kaliningrad region also go to rest on the Polish Baltic coast. They, like the Germans, have their own Baltic and their resorts, but they attract our compatriots to the same Polish considerations: relatively inexpensive service of a completely European level, low prices for products. In addition, an agreement was concluded between the Polish Pomeranian Voivodeship and the Kaliningrad Region on a simplified procedure for border crossing by residents of both regions.

Generally speaking, tourists traveling to the Polish Baltic Sea are those who do not really like the hot subtropical and tropical resorts. The Baltic is noticeably cooler, but from July to September there is an opportunity to swim.

As for outdoor activities and entertainment, here, as they say, there are options. You can choose the main and most respectable resort of Pomorie – Sopot, here in the summer season it is quite crowded, developed modern tourist infrastructure, many hotels, health resorts, service enterprises, the famous guest house open-air theater “Forest Opera”, where “stars” are performing from all over Europe. However, due to the large influx of tourists during the peak season in Sopot, overcrowding is felt – lines in cafes, restaurants, crowded beach.

If someone wants a relaxing and secluded vacation, numerous resort towns and former fishing villages scattered along the coast provide such an opportunity: Leba, Kolobrzeg, Jastrzęmbia Gora, Krynica Morska and others.

In the colorful seaside town with the Russian name Jantar – amber (in Polish this stone is called “burshtyn”) you can get acquainted with all the subtleties of the amber craft. And in Katy Rybatskey enjoy the silence, amazing coastal landscapes, as well as admire the beautiful and graceful birds – black cormorants.

The main advantage of Polish Baltic resorts is a large and varied selection of options for recreation, accommodation, food. They can offer you a five-star hotel, a villa, and a small cheap room in a private house. You can eat in an expensive restaurant, a tiny cafe, or cook your own food while buying groceries in supermarkets. The prices there, by the way, are quite comparable with the Russian ones, and for some products even lower than in neighboring Kaliningrad.
