Nine unusual waterfalls in different countries

No one knows how many waterfalls are on the earth. Perhaps this is because sometimes it is difficult to say: is there really a waterfall in front of us, that is, just water falling from a height, and not something else, some of them look very unusual.
And even what waterfall is considered unusual, no one knows for sure either. Therefore, we do not call our selection “World Top 10” or “World Waterfall Rating”, but simply talk about ten waterfalls in different countries that seemed unusual to us.

Here, as they say, you can’t argue: when water painted in blood-red color gushes from ice rocks, this spectacle is unusual and even fantastic, reminiscent of horror films. But there is no “horror”: the reason for the unusual color of the water, according to scientists, lies in the chemical composition of the glacier, this water stream forms from melting. It contains a lot of iron oxide, in other words, ordinary rust.

Misty Waterfall, Iceland
Water, as you know, happens in three states – solid, liquid and gaseous. Fog is a kind of gaseous state, therefore these streams of fog falling from the rocks can also be considered a waterfall. True, it is not possible to observe it constantly, but only under certain conditions – air temperature, wind direction, etc. By the way, the wind creates a “noise accompaniment” to the foggy waterfall – it sounds like a normal, “water” one.

McWay Beach Waterfall, USA
Showers can be seen on many beaches. But here so that the water from the shower pushed into the beach continuously and poured sand at the same time – this is only possible on California’s McWay Falls beach. Unfortunately, tourists cannot take advantage of the free and ultra-mobile shower and admire the unusual sight, the beach is difficult to access and dangerous due to frequent landslides.

Fire Falls, USA

This waterfall in California demonstrates its unusualness only in a certain period of time – annually in February. And only under certain conditions – when the sun’s rays begin to “highlight” a stream of water flowing from a cliff. The effect of molten volcanic lava flowing from a 650-meter rock is created.

Underwater Waterfall, Mauritius
At the word “waterfall”, an association with the river, as a last resort with a stream, habitually arises. It is difficult to imagine a waterfall in the ocean. However, it exists – in the island state of Mauritius, near the coast of the Lemorn Brabant Peninsula, you can see a unique sight – water from sandbanks plunges into the abyss of the ocean.

Bigar Waterfall, Romania

It is difficult to say how water falls on an eight-meter-high rock of calcareous tufa, located in the Beusnitsa National Park in western Romania. But the fact that this unusual waterfall resembles a mushroom-mushroom in shape is undoubtedly. Such an impression is created by the emerald green moss covering of the rock.

Iguazu Falls, Argentina-Brazil

In this case, it is appropriate to talk not about one waterfall, but about their whole complex. 257 waterfalls on the border of Argentina and Brazil, each with a height of 50 to 80 meters, stretch over a distance of about three kilometers and are one of the main natural attractions of both countries. Iguazu Falls is visited by about two million tourists a year. For them, near the object, a modern infrastructure has been created, with its own airport, dozens of hotels, a network of viewing platforms.

Victoria Falls, Zambia-Zimbabwe

The name of the English queen was named by the British traveler and scientist David Livingstone who discovered it in 1855. Locals call it “booming smoke”, due to the constantly swirling near the stream of clouds from the smallest droplets of water. The height of the waterfall is 120 meters, a width of about two kilometers. Tourists get here along the railway line laid in 1905 and admire the mesmerizing scenery of the waterfall from the railway bridge.

Angel Falls, Venezuela

The peculiarity of this waterfall, located in Venezuela, in the Canaima National Park is its height, 1054 meters. True, according to other sources, the height of Angel Falls is slightly below the kilometer mark – 979 meters, but in any case it is the highest waterfall in the world. It is difficult to get to the waterfall – only by air or by rafting along the river. Unesco World Heritage Site.
