Hey my name is Eric, I live in Grand Forks, Ive had a saltwater tank for about a year now, Its a 75 gallon with a 30 gallon sump. I have some large tree leathers, candy cane, frogspawn, 3 different kinds of mushrooms,a couple different xenia, and some polyps. I have 4 big Rose bubble anemones (wont stop splitting) 1 yellow Carpet anemone, with a pair of clownfish that like to jump from anemone to anemone. scooter blenny, mandarin, yellow tang, damsels (only cause i cant get them out). I have just started propagating, Its kinda scary cutting my corals, I could use some advise, i tried my mushrooms but they just kinda heeled back together.

I have found mushrooms to be a bit tricky...cutting them is easy enough (I use a scissors.) But putting them somewhere that the frag gets enough flow but not so much that it blows away can be hard. I usually put some crushed coral in a small plastic container and place the frags in there. Hope that helps.

I've fragged a lot other than mushrooms. Xenia I found if I put rubble amongst it it just grows up on that and I pull out the rubble. My mushrooms grow like crazy in the shade and I just let them be -- in fact the original rock of mushrooms I bought is long gone.

Sorry I can't be of any help with the shrooms but looks like someone else covered that :ch:

why hello there umm i know that one of our old memebers kay house used to frag his shroooms alot one thing he did to get them to attack is cut a plastic cup so it was like only an inch-inch and a half and puts some rubble in there withthe cut shroom so it didnt blow away. he also put the strawberry neeting over the top so it didnt float away hope it helps.

Welcome to the fourm! I know some people like to use fishing line to tie down the fragged piece of mushroom also. I would try the rubble in a cup method.

I have to admit, I don't like fragging shrooms at all. Slimey, messy, stinky. So, I try not to mess with them much anymore. I've used rubberbands to secure them to a rock but it was tricky because it was easy to get it too tight or loose.

also i know this sound kind of funny but you said they gre back together did you seperate the shrooms if not they will just grow back together since in fact that is what they are trying to do when you cut them and they were not ready to split yet.
