Is there a theme to this tank? SPS? Mixed? Replacing your current tank, or in addition?

can I suggest if this is going to be a canopy you might want to look at hindging the front end so you can easily feed your fish and change bulbs and to if you screen the top of your canopy you'll have much less heat problems. you MH already will produce direct heat so screening the top will help reduce lamp hindering heat.

Looks good so far.. Do you plan on covering it? If so have you chosen the type of wood you are going to use? I had a really hard time finding a decent grain that I liked. I ended up settling for some birch.

:argue Lighting.one subject that everyone has different opinions on...LOL.
I would just like to point one thing out I've found over the years of using MH and shut up...LOL.

over the years of building my own canopies I have found you need to run top ventilation using MH for one your reflector consumes lots of heat from a MH that's why there thin.so top ventilation should be used because heat rises, the problem I've come accross with out using top ventilation is to get most of your heat out of your canopy there needs to be a lot of air flow which one contributes to more water evaporation and 2 if your lamp is under lots of air flow your lamp my not burn at the proper temp and you won't get the full spectium out of you MH lamp.

Looks nice to me. I agree, working in an apartment is not so good! I was outside in the cold during thanksgiving weekend sawing and gluing the plumbing for my sump!

Are you planning to attach your lights to the lid, or to some other sort of bracing in the canopy? If to the lid, do you think those hinges are study enough to hold the weight when it's propped open?

Looking good Mike..

But I do have a devils advocate question.. How are you going to keep it from getting knocked off? It doesn't look like it is going to sit down around the edge of your tank but sit right on top???
